Southern eliminates ILRC director position 1

Leslie Parker, director of the International Language Resource Center, says she can't measure the value of the center's services for the campus and the community.

Soon she won't have to.

Currently, as the director of the ILRC, she is responsible for the foreign language lab and its 12 to 15 student workers, tutoring, resource library and arranging Foreign Language Field Day.

Senate holds 8-minute meeting 1

This week's meting of the Student Senate was brief, wrapping up in just a little more than eight minutes.

Organizations that had received money from the Senate spent the majority of the meeting's time expressing their gratitude.

"We really appreciate you guys," Nathan Hicks, member of the College Republicans and Student Senate said.

Hearnes Hall and the area outside University President Bruce Speck's office was the site of another protest urging Southern to update it's non-discrimination policy today.

Around sixty people, including students and several faculty members, gathered at 12:15 this afternoon and demanded the University include sexual orientation in the policy.

The Feb. 19 and 20 Board of Governors retreat was described by some Board members as the most positive meeting in recent memory. And the highlight, according to many in attendance, was an hour-long presentation on the international mission by Drs.

Mae Eisenbarth's heart sank when she heard Tysha Potter had chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Her reaction was of shock, awe and disbelief.

Potter, herself, didn't have the same reaction when she got the diagnosis on Sept. 8.

Some students believe they have PSU's official blessing to leave class early if their teacher is running late. Hidden in the depths of a rulebook no one can find, it tells how long students must wait for their instructor based on scholarly rank.

In fact, a recent informal poll of 59 students found that almost 34 percent of PSU students believe such a rule exists, and almost 50 percent of students weren't sure whether it existed or not.

Drury has increased appeal to Eagle Scouts

A 1979 Drury alum that wishes to remain anonymous made a donation that will make it possible for Drury to give Eagle Scout scholarships to incoming students.

"The Drury Eagle Scout Scholarship is a one-time (non-renewable) scholarship of $1,000, available to incoming Drury students," Assistant Director of Admission, Becky Ahrens, said.
