H. Lawrence Cowan, who has served as vice president for university advancement and executive director of the University of Central Missouri Foundation since Aug. 1, 2007, passed away today after a brief illness. He was transported by ambulance to Western Missouri Medical Center this morning and passed away prior to being taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Kansas City.

Phil Thomas remembers last year's "Shark Night" vividly. He remembers because he has a scar to remind him. While at a house party, Thomas, along with two other PSU students, was hit in the head with a gun.

"We were just standing there and a fight broke out and all these guys starting jumping on the guys standing there," Thomas said.

Daniel Song'ony, professor of economics at MidAmerica Nazarene University, was found dead in his home Wednesday, July 16.

According to MNU President Ed Robinson, Song'ony was taken to Kansas University Medical Center for autopsy, and the coroner determined the cause of death was a heart attack.
