Activist has second thoughts on promoting violence at polls

Bricks, stones and handing out Molotov Cocktail instructions were part of a Missouri State University student's riot plans for the Missouri presidential primaries until he recently deemed a peaceful protest to be more appropriate. Ryan Culbertson-Faegre, a sophomore English major, said he is planning a protest called Vote with Violence to project questions and ideas toward voters on Feb.

MSU brought charges before branch closing

Sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma was closed by its national headquarters before its university trial date following charges of hazing and underage drinking. The charges were brought by university officials before winter break. The Beta Beta Chapter of social sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma, also known as Tri-Sigma, was closed by its executive council on Jan.

City Utilities considers changes following audit

City Utilities plans to discuss possible changes in operation and spending during its monthly board meeting scheduled for Jan. 31. "Will there be changes? Absolutely," CU Communications Supervisor Joel Alexander said. "But to what degree, how rapidly and to what level they will affect individual customers, more specifically MSU students, are unknown at this point.

MSU expands downtown

Missouri State signed a three-year lease agreement Dec. 19 that will give the university an additional 69,561 square feet of space in downtown Springfield's Park Central Office Building. The lease signed with Davis Properties will give Missouri State the opportunity to vacate Siceluff Hall in order to begin renovations that are part of the Facilities Reutilization Plan, said Ken McClure, associate vice president for administrative services.

PSU to host Mo Court of Appeals

Two sessions of the Missouri Court of Appeals Southern District will take place Jan. 22 in the Plaster Student Union Theater. The event will be hosted by the Department of Political Science and the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, Kevin Pybas, an associate professor in the Political Science Department, hopes to see students attend the event.
