Student places second in writing competition

A student in the School of Social Work was chosen as a finalist in the annual Genocide Prevention Op-Ed Writing & Video Contest sponsored by the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. Each of the contestants was entered into either the high school or college division, and this year, a video class was added.

Gillioz Theatre to host Project D.A.N.

The Gillioz Theatre will host Project D.A.N. May 7 to celebrate and recognize the life of Dan Imperiale, a Missouri State alumni who recently died. Imperiale was an avid recycler, and his family and friends say it was his life's goal. Tickets for the event will cost $9, with proceeds going to the Daniel Imperiale fund.

Car condition saves gas money

With gas prices soaring more than $3 a gallon, keeping your gas mileage under control can put extra dollars in your pocket and keep your car in fit shape. It all starts at the pump. "Special types of fuel, like premium, do not help your gas mileage in any way," said Blaine Jones, service manager for Import Car Service.

Site connects students to class

There is a new Web site for college students, but it isn't designed to give them a social network to talk long distance friends. This Web site is designed to help them with their academics. It is called Noog, and it was designed by Amir and Osmaan Shah. "This isn't like other social networks like Facebook," Missouri State student, Salman Shah said.
