Glenn Dorsey highlighted the Chiefs' draft this year, addressing a position that has been a virtual void since Dan Saleaumua was in Kansas City. The 2004 draft was the last time the Chiefs went after a defensive tackle relatively early. The Chiefs' first selection in that draft was in the second round, where they took Junior Siavii.
For the second year in a row, the Rams used its first pick in the draft to address defensive line problems, this year selecting defensive end Chris Long. It went back-and-forth until draft day, but in the end, St. Louis stuck to their guns and chose Long over Glenn Dorsey.
The Bears took care of business this weekend with a convincing sweep of Indiana State. Missouri State (33-14, 16-5) outscored Indiana State 52-20 in three games. The Bears won each game by an average of 10.67 runs. Starting pitchers Tim Clubb and Buddy Baumann and reliever Cody Aycock all picked up wins.
In college sports, athletes can transfer from team to team. That is just the way things are. In professional sports, they can be traded around. But in college sports, the athletes themselves have the power over where they go. Usually college athletes go from larger schools to smaller ones either because they don't like the size or they don't like the competition of the higher divisions.
It was a disappointing finish to the regular season for the Missouri State softball team, getting swept in a three-game series on the road against the Creighton Bluejays this past weekend. Offensive woes plagued Missouri State all series long as the Bears would score their one and only run of the series in a 6-1 defeat in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
