The NFL Draft is here. And as Missouri NFL fans would say, "finally." It is now time for fans of every team (outside of the NFC West, of course) to dream of a big season, thinking that this is going to be their year. As for these players that are going through the draft right now, they have been poked and prodded, tested on their intelligence and their 40 times, and have gone through more routes than a FedEx truck.
The annual Maroon and White spring football game is set for 1 p.m. this Saturday at Plaster Field. The 78-player Missouri State squad will be divided into two teams. The two sides will scrimmage at live, game-action speed for four quarters. No live kickoffs or punts will take place.
The season has been over for two months. While next season doesn't start for another two months when the first minicamp is held, now is the time that Ice Bears general manager Stan Melton is putting the finishing touches on next year's schedule. "Well, we are about as busy now as we would be any other time of the year," Melton said.
Some are going to be lawyers, some will work with the injured, some will continue in school and some will leave Missouri State with degrees and hopes of beginning new chapters in their lives. However, these women all have roots that began with playing on the Bears' softball team during their college careers.
Losing can be a humbling yet learning experience. After a rare loss, the Missouri State lacrosse team is hoping that such an experience will lead them back onto the winning path. The Bears close out the regular season this weekend, playing at Division-I opponents Kansas (Saturday, noon) and Kansas State (Sunday, noon).
