The Missouri State lacrosse team finished the 2009 regular season by defeating Division-I teams Kansas and Kansas State this past weekend. The Bears defeated Kansas 11-10 in double overtime Saturday then shut down Kansas State for a 13-3 win Sunday afternoon.
A missed pickoff attempt in the first inning by Bluejays catcher Lauren Larson gave the Bears their only opportunity for a run in the entire home series against Creighton last weekend. The Bears took advantage of the pickoff error, and with that run and a solid pitching effort from Lauren McGinley, Missouri State was able to keep Creighton scoreless and earn a doubleheader split on Saturday.
Now making the full conversion to it, the Missouri State football team unleashed its 3-4 defense in the "Maroon and White" exhibition game last Saturday. The defense is designed to vary blitz packages and give opposing quarterbacks and running backs a tough time locating the blitzer in avoiding them or blocking them.
