Beartones gear up for sixth CD release Sept. 19

The group gathers together ready to sing on the stage of Ellis Recital Hall. One of the members walks over to play a note on the piano so they can start on the right pitch. Then, music erupts, sounding practically like the song's original melody. The difference is that all sounds heard in the song are made by the members' voices.

Black Box bucks tradition

Topping the charts is a feat almost every artist aspires to accomplish. However, a group of six local DJs called Black Box Revue have other intentions. "What's really cool about the whole entire deal is that we are not conforming to the whole top 40 bull," said Johan Collins, one of the founding members.

Food allergies becoming a common issue for students

We all have things we refuse to eat, but some students on campus don't get the luxury to pick and choose their food based on taste. Eight students this fall semester have limited options when it comes to settling their hunger due to food allergies. Food allergies affect nearly four percent of adults and studies are showing that food allergies are becoming more common.

Visually stunning '9' left with used plot

Looks matter. For a movie with a classic story line, looks really matter. From new director Shane Acker comes "9," the story of a post-apocalyptic world in which the ultimate fate of humanity rests in the hands of nine sock puppets. Although the film is visually stunning, it may leave some disappointed with a very familiar plot.
