The Missouri State women's soccer team bounced back on Sunday in a 5-0 defeat of Oral Roberts University. The win was much needed after an 0-0 overtime draw last Tuesday to Saint Louis University, followed by a 2-0 loss on Friday. On Friday, in the two teams' first meeting, the Bears, (then 3-3-1), came out with a much higher level of intensity than they did against Austin, displaying more control and much better ball movement.
The Missouri State football team took a big step forward this past weekend, capturing their first victory of the 2009 season with a 24-14 win over the Skyhawks of Tennessee-Martin. Uncompromising play on defense combined with a grind-it-out performance on offense propelled the Bears to a 1-1 record on the season.
After a 2-3 start to the 2009 season, senior Alyssa Hile and the Bears are on the right track to succeed. During the Sept. 7 game against the Saint Louis University Billikens, Hile scored two of the teams' seven goals on six shots and one assist. After scoring twice in the game against the Billikens, Hile became the owner of five of the Bears' 18 goals on the season.
