So far this season, the Missouri State basketball team has been successful, piling up five wins to begin their 2009-10 campaign. Coach Cuonzo Martin said his team has played well together despite missing some key players. "I thought they did a good job and got out to a good start, especially since we had key players out," Martin said.
When looking at a group picture of the Missouri State swimming and diving program, one is bound to notice the individual abilities within the second largest team on campus. This squad has MVC Champions, NCAA qualifiers and even swimmers with a shot at an Olympic gold.
Casey Garrison was in the first grade when she first picked up a basketball. Surprisingly, she didn't like the tryout and didn't think that she would play. Thirteen years later, on the day after Thanksgiving, she turned in her career game scoring 35 points and delivering 17 rebounds in what just might have been her best game of her life.
While towering over other players, senior forward David Schroeder continues to have his way with opposing defenses, not only as the team's tallest player, but also their leading scorer. Standing tall at 6 foot 5 inches, Schroeder is currently leading the Ice Bears in goals with 19.
