Friends mourn the loss of MSU student

Friends remember Missouri State student Nathanael Perkins, who died in a single-vehicle car accident Feb. 20, as a warm, funny and loving person who could befriend anyone. A visitation was held Tuesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home. "He was the kind of guy who would just burst through the door and light up the room," said Tanna Feldman, who met Perkins when they attended Drury University together.

State budget cut could increase, raise tuition

Gov. Jay Nixon's plans to cut $50 million from the state's budget for higher education could increase to $70 million, which could result in a tuition increase despite of the university's tuition agreement with the state government. "I don't know if that will happen, I'm certainly hopeful that it doesn't," president Michael Nietzel said at a town hall meeting Feb.

Ten minutes and 375 rolls of toilet paper later, 40 members of the Theta Chi fraternity littered the lawns of the six campus sorority houses as tradition remains. "It has been going on since before I got here four years ago," said Kyle Felton, a senior construction management major.

University considers bonds for Rec Center

The Missouri State Board of Governors passed a resolution Feb. 19 that will allow the university to explore borrowing up to $52 million to fund improvements on several university facilities including the University Recreation Center. The university would borrow the money by issuing bonds to investors.
