When it comes to finding the must- have shoes for spring, there are certain stores that some flock to. Laura Andrews, junior in finance and general business, said she swears by Bakers.

"I practically live there," she said.

Now that the ice has finally melted, people are shedding their winter shoes and are in search for a pair of great flats, strappy sandals and wedges. Andrews said she is on the lookout for her ideal spring footwear.

"For casual wear, definitely flip flops or sandals that are sparkly, with bright colors, or dark colors like denim," she said. "For going out, wedge heels with lots of straps in any color, but preferably bright colors."

Stores around Springfield are introducing their new spring line fashions. Mallory Pittman, an employee at the Plaza Shoe Source, described what's in this spring.

"Wedges, patents, woven leather, and metallic colors and yellows are by far the most popular right now," she said.

Some may wonder where they can get the must-have spring shoes in Springfield. If your shoe mentality is expensive but worth it, or if cheap is best, Springfield provides both options.

Shoe Cents, 228 W Sunshine St., prices all pairs of shoes at $19.95 or less.

"We have great variety, and the prices are some of the best around," employee Jennifer Taylor said. "We have brands like Delicious, Soap, Naturalizer, Bamboo, and BCBG."

Taylor said some shoes tend to be more popular with customers than others.

"Our most popular selling shoes are the open-toed heels and platforms," she said.

Another inexpensive shoe location is Shoe Carnival, 3408 S. Glenstone Ave. This store puts a twist on its daily sales.

Eric Perryman, Shoe Carnival employee, stands on a podium to announce sales and where in the store to find them.

"We have some of the lowest prices around, and it's the only place where you can spin the wheel to get cash off," Perryman said. "We make up specials spontaneously, which keeps it fun."
