The J-Spot is not an undiscovered pleasure button on your body, but rather it is a lecture with a tantalizing take on sex education.

Jay Friedman, a certified sex educator, has been touring the college lecture circuit for more than 15 years, educating and enlightening students on love, sex and dating and will be at Missouri State University at 7 p.m. Monday.

"We live in a society where we're crippled with sexual ignorance," Friedman said. "The only sexual education in schools are just using scare tactics and negativity, and I am trying to do the opposite."

Friedman said he wanted to promote what he called a sex-positive attitude toward sex and open up a learning environment for young adults.

"I want students to come and learn to loosen up when it comes to sex and have the ability to be less uptight about giving other people information, ideas and inspiration," he said.

Friedman began his sexual crusade while he was a student at Cornell University with the peer program "How to Be a Better Lover."

"I thought I knew everything when it came to sex, but I found out that I was wrong, so I wanted to learn more about it and teach others," he said.

Friedman incorporates humor and anecdotes along with information on common sexual issues to entertain and educate students.

"It's not scary or preachy like most courses," he said. "It's very fun and positive, while some may find it challenging if they haven't had much sex ed.

"I will tackle some tough topics and also give tantalizing tips and techniques on sex."

According to the J-Spot Web site, www.jaytalk.com, Friedman lectures about the three P's: prevention of pregnancy, disease and sexual violence, pleasure during sex and the political climate that typically creates sexual taboos.

He will also address issues such as three conditions to meet before having sex, how to make condoms feel better and the mysterious G-Spot.

He gives advice on the Web site in the form of insights and outbursts, for example, on sex and alcohol, he says: "Because sex is a taboo topic, we put on our beer goggles and use alcohol as a social lubricant."

Friedman said he has lectured for many diverse age groups during his career, but enjoys speaking exclusively at campuses now.

"The campus is a good place to work," he said. "College students are like adults but at the same time with a lot to learn."

Friedman emphasized that his sex-positive approach is designed to inform, provoke and challenge while being fun.

Students can also look forward to a sexual-education video shown in Scandinavian schools, which Friedman said he thought was a great example of a positive and honest sexual education.

The Web site listed the other topics Friedman will cover in the lecture, including AIDS, communication and decision-making, dating and relationships, gender roles and differences, homophobia, sexual violence and sex and alcohol.
