The tournament featured 24 men's teams, nine women's teams and six open-competition teams. The open competition means the usual rules of eligibility were not enforced.
"It allows all of the old guys to come back and compete," said Joseph Seastrom, the tournament's director.
The tournament champions were Luther College in the men's bracket, Kansas on the women's side and the Missouri State Frizzbears in open competition.
The Missouri State Ultimate finished eighth overall, while Bearly Legal placed sixth.
Each game lasts an hour and a half or until a team reaches 13 points. Saturday was pool play to determine the seeding for Sunday's elimination games.
"On defense, for the most part, you try to force them to one sideline or the other, try to take off half of the field," said Dave Woods, Missouri State Ultimate's team captain. "On offense, you are really trying to get everybody to touch the disk and move it from one side of the field to the other. To score is the main objective."
The Missouri State men's team played five games in pool play.

• Wisconsin White Water

The university's alumni team, the Frizzbears, won first-place in the tournament 13-6 against Illinois-Chicago Alumni.
Missouri State men's coach Patrick Knipe said the Bears have had a strong history in this tournament.
"One year, we won the college division of (the Frostbite Tournament)," Knipe said. "We have finished third several times, and the last several years, we have done well but we just finished a little further back, in sixth and seventh, the past couple of years."
The men's team, Missouri State Ultimate, lost to Luther College on Sunday to be eliminated. Luther went on to win first place, beating Arkansas 14-8 in the title game Sunday. Missouri State Ultimate is 14-6 on the season.
Missouri State is starting to show signs of improvement and progress in its program, Knipe said.
"We are playing extremely well," Knipe said. "We have won a lot of games against teams we have never beaten before. We have had our rough spots, but for the most part, the team's playing really well, and we have a lot of talent on it."
The women's team, Bearly Legal, finished in sixth place out of nine teams, taking a step back from its success at the Hendrix Tournament in Conway, Ark., weeks before where they finished second overall.
"(On Saturday) we played really well," said Emily Lewis, one of the Bearly Legal team's co-captains. "We went 3-1 and played really well together. (On Sunday) we were tired and we had some injuries to deal with."
Lewis said Bearly Legal is 6-1 this semester.
Iowa, who beat Bearly Legal on Saturday's pool play, went on to play in the championship game against Kansas. Iowa lost to Kansas, 9-6.
