An RBI double from McCormack and an RBI single from Conway finished off the eight-run inning.

In the sixth inning, Ryun hit a two-run homer to put the game at 13-1.

Later in the seventh, Zac Swyhart drove in a run while getting his fourth hit of the game.

In the eighth inning, Christian Overstreet added a solo home run to make the final score 16-3.

The Bears starting pitcher Pat Doyle (1-2) went for three innings of work, striking out three batters.

The Bears (8-10) used six different pitchers over the next six innings, and Doyle was given the win.

Missouri State coach Keith Guttin spoke highly of his team's recent success.

"Pitching and defense were the things that were spotty for us before," Guttin said.

"Those things have been a lot more consistent these last four ball games."

Drake stressed the importance of getting wins in the games leading up to conference play.

"These wins right here before conference are definitely big," Drake said. "We have a lot of momentum going into our first conference series."

The Bears will be back in action on Friday as they host conference opponent Bradley (5-8) at 6:30 p.m. at Hammons Field.
