In the first game, things did not start out well for the Bears. The team dug itself into a hole early, trailing 9-1 after only three innings. Missouri State scored the next seven runs before coming up short.
Bears junior catcher Dallas Hord had two homers and five RBIs. Missouri State junior Tim Clubb (4-3) pitched a complete game for the Bears, giving up 12 hits and 6 earned runs.
The Bears again got off to a slow start again in the second game as the first seven batters were retired. However, in the third inning, sophomore Tyler Ryun hit a solo home run to get things going for Missouri State and the Bears won 14-6.
Sophomore pitcher Buddy Baumann moved to 8-0 on the season, pitching a complete game while giving up six runs on 10 hits. He recorded seven strikeouts with no walks.
Missouri State won the final game 11-3. Ben Carlson hit his 13th homer of the season and finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Sophomore pitcher Aaron Meade (7-2) went for eight innings, giving up only three runs with six strikeouts.
The Bears return home this week for a Tuesday game against Saint Louis University and a Wednesday game against Missouri. Missouri State then returns to conference play with a weekend series at home against Northern Iowa.
