Throughout the semester, Student Government Association hopes to build on its successes from the fall semester and keep itself visible to the student body.
As of now, SGA is planning to work toward resolutions that would, if passed, improve the iGrade system, further Bear Line tracking progress, install a textbook rental program and help with the community by offering service during spring break, said Justin Mellish, director of public relations.
"This semester, our directors will focus on the completion of many projects, many of which require significant research and cooperation with university administration," he said.
Chris Polley, student body president, reiterated the importance of Bear Line tracking, which SGA helped to accomplish, and said students will also be interested in the textbook rental program and increased course information.
"We have been careful to focus our efforts this year only on projects that will have the greatest impact on student life on campus," he said. "Bear Line tracking will be a great tool for students this semester, providing more course information will affect every student on campus and a textbook rental program will make books more affordable for all students."
Some of SGA's goals this semester are carried over from the fall.
"Going into last semester, we understood many of the projects we were undertaking would not yield short term results," Polley said. "With that said, the projects that take a great deal of time to complete are exactly the projects SGA should work toward because they will have the greatest impact for students."
Projects he referred to were the textbook rental program, increased campus Wi-Fi capabilities, current events marquees (TV screens across campus that would show campus news and events), increased course information for students and a royalty fee waiver for student organizations, which would make for free use of the Missouri State logo for student organizations.
